Local Information about India

New Delhi city is a mix of ancient monuments, magnificent museums and a vibrant performing-arts scene. The most common languages spoken are Hindi, English, Punjabi and Urdu. Delhi encapsulates two very different worlds, the 'old' and the 'new' – each presenting a variety of different experiences. Spacious New Delhi was built as the imperial capital of India by the British, and Old Delhi served as the capital of Islamic India.

Mumbai, in contrast, is India's financial powerhouse and its vogue centre of fashion, film and nightlife, with new skyscrapers and malls dominating the skyline. Mumbai represents a vast mix of diversity; having a Hollywood feel in parts, Mumbai city is a blend of colonial relics, cosmopolitan bars and restaurants, ancient bazaars, Hinduism and Islam.
