TSYS Wins Highest Honor From the United States Postal Service
Columbus, Ga., March 7, 2000 - Total System Services, Inc.® (TSYS®) (NYSE: "TSS") has been selected as this year’s winner of the United States Postal Services’ (USPS) highest honor, the Partnership for Progress Award. The award serves as recognition for the company’s significant contributions to achieving USPS’ mission of "advancing the value of mail." TSYS will receive the award during the USPS’ National Postal Forum on March 20 in Nashville, Tenn.

For more than 25 years TSYS has partnered with the United States Postal Service to deliver millions of cards, statements, and letters to consumers. TSYS is the largest first class mailer in the Southeast and has been a major contributor to the USPS’ Southeast District revenue. Last year, TSYS processed over 475,000,000 pieces of first class mail from its own Detached Mail Unit (DMU) located at its Columbus facility. This DMU is fully staffed by USPS employees and is operational 24-hours a day, seven days a week.
TSYS uses state-of-the-art mail preparation technology to sort, bundle and scan thousands of trays of mail daily. These systems, along with Postal One software which pre-books air and ground transportation for mail trays, allow TSYS to reduce errors and improve deliverability. This combination of work sharing saves the USPS thousands of man hours annually while providing TSYS’ customers timely, accurate service.
In 1998, TSYS developed and implemented PRIME, its strategic alliance program with the USPS furthering its commitment to expedite problem resolution and foster improvements within both organizations. Representatives from TSYS and the USPS meet quarterly to discuss performance and enhancement opportunities.
