TSYS Europe Expands Leadership Team
New directors add expertise in retail, commercial and client services
York, U.K., 13 March 2003 - Four new directors have joined TSYS Europe, substantially enhancing the company's European expertise in retail, commercial and client services.
Michael J. Fromant has joined TSYS Europe as a director overseeing the group's service delivery functions. Fromant has worked in banking and payments since 1971 for companies such as Barclays Bank, Barclaycard, GE Capital, HFC Bank and Experian. He is a recognised industry leader with a diverse operational background that includes successfully reducing fraud losses, establishing a call centre in India, increasing call centre efficiency, reducing cardholder complaints, improving pricing strategies and managing a bankcard portfolio. Fromant is also a world-class athlete who has represented the UK in track and field events; he broke a four-minute mile at 19 years old.
John Goodale has joined TSYS Europe as director of business expansion support, with a special emphasis on retail technologies and payment systems. Goodale has developed in-store, supply chain, loyalty and security solutions in the retail and petroleum sectors with a focus on strategy development, business development, benefits management, e-commerce, customer management and systems delivery for various financial services companies. His clients' operations have covered the UK, Europe and North America. He has previously worked for Atos KPMG Consulting, Fujitsu Consulting (formerly DMR Consulting) and NSB Retail (formerly Unlimited Solutions), among others. At Fujitsu, Goodale helped establish a range of services for card issuing, payments and loyalty. He has provided consulting and technical services to many of the leading credit card and retail organisations in the UK and Europe.
Alan R. Gibson has joined TSYS Europe as director of commercial card services. Gibson has worked in the banking and payments sector since 1984, with such organizations as Europay International, Experian, OmniPay and TSB Bank. Gibson specialises in product and business development; he has worked with major banks in Europe to develop their commercial card value propositions. Gibson has created significant savings at major companies by implementing corporate travel, entertainment and purchasing cards, as well as automating and moving enhanced invoice data and implementing management information solutions.
Paul Mitchell has joined TSYS Europe as director and account manager for the Royal Bank of Scotland Group. Mitchell has worked in financial services since 1974, and he has specialised in payment services since 1985. Mitchell has managed client relationships in the UK and Germany for First Data Resources, Ltd. (now First Data Europe), and most recently served as director of client relations for NCR Ltd., where he focused on the deployment of its ATM channel management solution.

European cards in service increased 13 percent last year. European schemes reported a combined total 14 billion credit and debit transactions in 2002, a 17 percent increase.
